I bought a new U2410 a month back. Noticed today morning that the blue LED of the power button was flickering. Sometimes its going off and again coming back on. At other times too, its shimmering with a very low brightness. I checked out reports of the same problem by other users too.
Accordingly I called up Tech Support. This is what they said:
1. If I've bought it in the last 1 month, then I get a new U2410 as replacement.
2. If its more than a month that I hv purchased it, then I get a refurbished U2410.
Questions:
1. Considering its still within a month that I hv bought it, if I get a new U2410 as replacement, how much are the chances that it won't have the same problem again (...if I assume the panels are from the same manufacturing line)?
2. Considering its over a month that I purchased it, how much are the chances that I won't land up into a bigger trouble with a refurbished replacement?
Please advise what I should do under the situation.
It is not inside of a month that gets you a New exchange, it must be inside of 21 days from the invoice date. If the only issue is the blinking LED, I wouldn't exchange it for a refurbished.
According to the invoice date, I'm still inside the 21 days duration, that I purchased the panel. The blinking LED problem is sporadic, like now its almost 12hrs. since I first reported the problem and at the moment, its not blinking at all (all the LEDs are perfectly glowing normal). So I guess I shouldn't get paranoid about it (since the blinking LED is the only problem I'm facing...else the panel is just fine.)
Another problem with my purchase, is that I don't have a service tag. The panel was bought separately and is not a part of a whole system. "Automatic Dell System Profiler" too scans and fails to find a service tag saying "service tag not found". Neither does the panel have any kind of a serial number behind it. Things that I do have are Dell Order Number, Customer PO Number, Invoice Number. But I'm not even able to mail tech support without the service tag.
Sorry, if I'm deviating from my first post. Can you please advise regarding this?
I spoke to Dell tech support (the power button LED is just dead now) and was assured of a new replacement (since I'm within the 21days range from buying).
I wish to know, how to identify a U2410 replacement to be a new piece and not a refurbished one? (Like, for Seagate refurbished Hard Disks, they have a sticker saying "Seagate Certified Repaired Hard Disk")
Identifying factor: According to my knowledge, a new U2410 will have the factory calibration report inside the box, while a refurbished one won't have it.
Am I right? Is there any other way to distinguish a refurbished panel from a new one.
I got a new U2410 (not a refurb) as replacement from Dell following the flickering power button LED problem.
I setup both my previous one and the new one side-by-side. While running both of them at Standard mode keeping brightness and contrast at 100, the new one is giving pinkish whites.
I'm confused which one to keep. Can you please comment on this?
