U2723QE, KVM functionality with 2 Laptops with USB-C
Hi All,
I am planning to buy UltraSharp U2723QE monitor. I have two laptops a 2020 M1 13inch MBP and I will be getting a work Laptop with USB-C connectivity and HDMI. I was wondering how would KVM work in the two scenarios? Any advice/help would be appreciated.
1. Can I connect both the MBP and work laptop with two USB-C cables to the ports in the monitor and still use KVM or would this not work?
2. Connect the MBP using the USB-C cable and connect the work laptop using HDMI and another cable? What additional cable would I need to make sure KVM is working properly?
Is there a way to do this if my two laptops have only USB-C ports? The above answer assumes the second PC has USB-A and HDMI ports. My guess is I'll need a separate USB hub to do this. If that is the case, what is the USB-C hub you recommend (that is known to be compatible with this monitor)?
#3 HDMI in #4 DisplayPort 1.4 in #5 USB-C in (Video + Data. Up to 90W power delivery back to the PC) #6 DisplayPort out #7 Audio line-out #8 USB-C upstream (Data only, no video. To enable USB 3.2 downstream if using #3 HDMI or #4 DP 1.4 for video) #9/#10/#11/#12/#14 USB 3.2 downstream #13 RJ45 Ethernet #15 USB-C downstream (Data only, no video. Up to 15W of power charging)
PC USB-C port --> Short USB-C to USB-C cable --> U2723QE #5 USB-C in port (Video + Data) * This should turn on the five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port
PC HDMI out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2723QE #3 HDMI port PC USB-A port --> Short USB-A to USB-C cable --> U2723QE #8 USB-C upstream port * This should turn on the five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port
