WARNING!!! 2005FPW brightness

WARNING!!! DO NOT PURCHASE 2005FPW UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO USE IT IN AN EXTREMELY BRIGHT ENVIRONMENT. THE BRIGHTNESS CONTROL ON 2005FPW PRACTICALLY DOES NOT CHANGE THE BRIGHTNESS AT ALL.

if you have already purchased it, and you can't stand the brightness and/or can't live with the terribly inconvenient workaround to lower the brightness (gamma) by using the Display control panel, you probably want to return it while you can.

2005FPW, REV A01, Mexico, May 2005.

My brightness controls appear to make a distinct change in the monitor's brightness.

you are lucky. i got three 2005FPW's and none of them changes the brightness using the brightness control on the monitor (not the Display control panel).

what's the revision of your 2005FPW?

i just received the fourth replacement which is now REV A02 and it has the exact same problem. it can adjust the brightness only slightly and it's almost unnoticeable.

the brightness control on the monitor is completely useless. please note that the video source is not always Dell PC, so it is completely irrelevant whether the brightness can be adjusted in the Display control panel on Dell PC.
