Advanced file type devices

I'm just looking at the manual and it seems to imply that only one AFTD can be set up per file system. Is this correct? I want to have several pools available on the disk so I would need several AFTD - this being the case I would need to partition the diskspace meaning it would be used less efficiently than as one big block of disk if I fail to divide the disk up for maximum efficiently

You can create multiple folders on your volume i.e. if I have 1 TB F: and want to use it for four backups, I would create f:\bvackup1, f:\backup2;F:\backup3;F:\backup4.

I agree they would contest for the same 1 TB but if F:\backup1 needs only 100 GB, balance 900 GB is available with other three to use and if either of them stages to another media (tape etc.), free space can be used by any of them who needs it.

If you want to create four partitions i.e. f:\ goes to F:,G;,H; & I, you would end up allocating more to one and less to another whereas using the above you in a way are dynamically allocating the available space.

    Yes, this is correct.

Yes this is correct because if mutiple file devices share the same filesystem, they will each contend for the available disk space.

Thanks Anuj, that is what I expected to be the case but the manual implied otherwise!
