restore progress

Helo Experts,
i wonder if there is a way to see the progress of a restore. Either file or exchange. i can not even see a restore as a restore session in the console of my 7.4.2 Networker. The only thing telling me that a restore is running is the tape reading data status or logs on the client side if an event is generated. Any ideas or do you struggle and accept it as i did until now?

with the command "nsrwatch" there should be something like reading ?gb out of ?gb. This can give you idea about what is being read

    HI,
If you run Nwrecover , and if you given recover , it will say like the file capacity and whether it is in online or offline , If it got the file form the index , while recovering it will show the files which are recovering , And also if you run recover form Scanner command it will also show the recovering files .

I'm not sure if nsrwatch will say anything more, but I know NMC didn't show it. In past I believe for restore you could see how much has been restored by looking at XBSA messages (or at least how much data has been read from index), but I'm not sure if that is the case now. Did you check restore log in applogs? I know that one will show you just db names, but it is more than NMC will show.

    Hey Peter,

It's true, there is not much output from NetWorker nor from NMC, however you can start the recover process with debugging options and check /nsr/logs/networkr.raw.

In windows is bit more difficult to edit the file (you would need either to install a tail tool for Windows or close it an open it every few seconds), but on Unix you could do a tail -f to that file and you should be able to see the progress, if any. You would also like to render the file first so it is easier to read.

    Thank you.

    Carlos.
