Restoring SQL backup to new server

I am currently backing up my SQL 2000 server using the Network Module for SQL Server.  I need to restore the backup to a SQL 2005 server running the Networker Module for SQL.  Is there anything special that I need to do to complete the restore?

Thanks,

Randy

I don't think there would be any problems as far as Networker goes. I am not real familiar with the differences in the SQL server. I would imagine that there is enough of a difference that you would have to migrate the data in and not just dump it.

Please excuse my ignorance here because I am only used to AIX, Oracle and different Windows versions. I know from restores that with Oracle I cannot restore specific tables because they are actually inside of what AIX considers a file (I think it is actually Oracle that sets it up like that) and it cannot just restore a part of the file.

Assuming both OSs were the same and both SQL server versions were the same you probably could just dump the data and change a couple things like IP addresses and it might work, that is IF you could get nwrecover, winworkr or whatever program you use to recover would allow you to recover from the other servers backup. I know that when I do a restore from a client only machine it only allows me to recover from its own backups. If you use nwrecover on the Networker server it will let you change clients but they do not show up on the list.
