Tape backup problem with giant files

I have trouble completing backups of very large files 890 GB - 1.2 TB.

The files are in Clariion, the file system is Ext3, are exported to a StorageNode with Centos OS 4.5

The  backup to tape (LTO3) starts normally, but when you have completed  approximately 147 GB backup is interrupted due to inactivity.

I think it has to do with the file system, but not that setear parameters. If  I do the backing of a local disk is no problem, I have files similar in  size to another server with xfs filesystems and gives errors in the  backup.

I appreciate your answers.

    Hi Orlando,

In your case the first thing I would suggest is to change the Inactivity Timeout value on the Group properties to zero. Test a backup and if it fails again with the same error then follow the procedure mentioned in below KB to set NSR_KEEP_ALIVE.

    Hi Orlando,

Are you using Networker 7.6 or 7.6.1? These are the only versions that can support CentOS.

    Regards

    Hi Orlando,

OK, but you'll keep on mind that NW versions older than 7.6 cannot support CentOS O.S. If you need to open a service request with EMC, first upgrade the NW version.

    Regards.

    Hi Claudio,

first of all thanks for replying, my server is solaris 9 with NetWorker 7.4.2 and Client CentOs 4.5 with NetWorker 7.5
My  doubt is because I have another StorageNode with Suse and had the same problem and I solved it by updating the NfsClient package on the client, did the same at the CentOs but not resolved.
I  thought there was no problem with the version of NetWorker because the installation was no problem, and backups of local disks with the same files (1.2 TB) was successful.

    Hi Claudio,

Make the changes proposed by Mr. Arum Daniel and apparently is paying off. Before the backup did not exceed the 147 GB are now 578 Gb file. As have the results I will be advising whether the solution used was effective.

    Thanks again for your support.
