Various VSS errors on multiple Windows 2003 Servers

I get numerous VSS errors Event ID's (12298, 77, 8, 12301, 12310, 21) on a number of our Windows 2003 servers. We have been running 7.5.1 of NetWorker for a few months now and I have been just ignoring them. I was doing some more research and figured I would post here for suggestions on trying to find the pattern that causes the issues. We do System State backups on some of our servers.

    This problem is not related to EMC, but to MS so my understanding is that you need this patch no matter what version of NW you use.

    Yes. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951568 is handy too if using VSS tracing.

    I have also problems with 2003 x64 servers VSS system filesets. System backup freezes when backuping disk quota databases. Will this patch help? Also backups freezes in same point if doing without VSS.

    We have NW7.4SP4 server and clients.

    I will try this as I did not see this KB, I saw something similar but required re-registering a number of things and restarting some services sounded pretty involved to do on many servers. I will apply this on a few serves and see if it helps.

    I could be wrong, but I believe there was a note in release supplement for x64 systems and VSS where it said that something was really badly broken and was even not supported (not sure if it was not supported at all or unless some patch was applied). Check the release supplement to see if that entry is still there.

    This is in the 7.5.1 release note document:

    under: Problems and limitations discovered in releases previous to 7.4

    VSS on Windows Server 2003 x64 is unsupported
    LGTpa82436
    Due to problems that Microsoft is encountering with certain VSS writers, this
    release of the NetWorker software cannot support VSS on Windows Server 2003
    x64 platforms.
    VSS on Windows Server 2003 x64 can be supported if the following Microsoft hot
    fix is installed: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;913100.

    Does anyone know if this problem is SOLVED in 7.5.1.. or if this patch ALWAYS i required if using VSS and 7.5.1 on windows 2003 x64
