This looks to primarily be a duplex mismatch issue.

What speed/duplex and port settings are configured on the 5224, vs. the Cisco 7606 Router?  How does that compare to the 3508GXL switch?

And is this a matter of link-state not going to an up state, or does the 5224 indicate that the port state is up, but the port is in blocking mode?

Tested in several different scenarios:

*) vanilla 5224 and default Gigabit 7606 port config.

*) 5224 port capabilities cropped to 1000 full duplex only, cisco on auto or forced to 1000 FD

*) mixed versions of duplex/speed forcing both on 7606 and 5224 side

In general ports on 5224 will not switch from 1000T to SFP mode. (ports 21-24 are SFP only)

No SFP port in 5224 has been ever up with 7606.

I'm curious to know what module(s) you are using in the 7606 and the IOS version.

 

Original Cisco SX GBiCs. Tested in WS-X6408A-GBIC and WS-X6K-S2U-MSFC2.

I have only single mode fibers (5 to 20 m) for connection with SX GBiCs - can it be the case ?
