Normally this asterisk "*" belongs to the not active image and it indicates that the image will be run on the next reboot. I haven't been able to find a way to change that from here at the moment. But can you try to restore your backup from here? https://dell.to/3faQcjI;

Thanks for the link, but those steps are for the admin console, which I cannot access since the failed firmware upgrade. I haven't been able to find equivalent CLI instructions.

I am not sure that is an option due to being limited on what you can do on the  X Series switches. In your case, what I would recommend is that you either replace or factory reset then reinstall again.

Let me know if that resolves the issue.

Hello, as the OP said "Tried to update firmware to 3.0.1.9 using the admin GUI, but it failed" if that's the case, we recoomeind use CLI mode. Hope the attached helps. I will leave here for the future reference.

I have just had the same issue as described above, but I am not able to even connect to TFTP as the MAC address keeps being blocked by SNMP when trying to connect.

Is there anyway to pull the file from the front facing USB port.. I could not see a way to identify this in the CLI although a USB drive can be detected when plugged in.  Alternatively, would anyone have an idea how to edit the config to allow access to the network device.

This is very frustrating as I was setting up a clean install and thought that it would be good practice to install the latest F/W version.

I have PuTTY running and connected and can see the scripts loading and telling me that a connecting machine via LAN is blocked by the SNMP. 

What would be the syntax to allow me to copy from a USB flash drive connected to either switch itself or through the terminal?  I saw the code above to copy from TFTP but as I can't connect through the LAN this is not an option (I think).
