Need some help on MST
I was wondering if this will work.
I want to keep my 5324 and 6024 together with 4 3448's.
3448 will be using MST
6024 MST
5324 SPT
I want to set the 3448 Region 0 to vlan 1000 and connect it to the 5324.
3448 --->> 5324
and connect to the 6024 with vlan 2000 Region 1
3448 -->> 6024
Will this work or will it cause a loop because the 5324 is not MST?
If not I would have to move everything to the 6024 and use 5324 for something else.
Thanks,

switch 1 3448 g3 --->>>6024
switch 1 3448 g4 --->>>6024
I configured the 3448/6024 for MST with the Regions 0 and 1.
Region 1 has only vlan 2000 and Region 0 has the rest.
On the 3448, MST configuration is enabled and set correctly.
I still see from running "show spanning-tree blockedports" that g4 is BLK for both regions.
What do I need to do from here?

Can you post your configurations for your switches? It will help us understand the setup.

Can I assume that the first set of configuration data is for the 34xx (switch 1) and the second set of configuration information which you refer to as "switch 2" is for the 6024?

Ok. I see. So the test setup is using only 34xx and no 6024. That's fine. We'll try with that.

I just want to see if I can get it working in my lab first to ensure no downtime accures. This why I configure 2 34xx to match what i have in production, minus the 6024.

BTW, can you also do a "show spanning-tree blockports" on your test setup and post the result here please.
Thanks,
Cuong.

I did not want to cause downtime for my clients and that is why I configured 2x34XX switchs in my lab with the same config. the results are the same that I see in my production with the 6024.
The configs that I posted are from my test lab.
Switch1 g3 ---> switch02 g3
switch1 g4 ---> switch02 g4

I have forwarded your question to some other engineers who understand MSTP on these switches better then I do. I'm waiting for their response. I'll post their answers here as soon as I get something from them.
