You probably have hardware flow control enabled.  Set the serial connection in your terminal software to NO FLOWCONTROL. 

putty or teraterm are good free programs.  Anything should work though.

Wich is the recomended emulator software?

We are using "sock terminal" but it seems that we can connect but can't enter commands.

(we are using an USB adapter to connect via the RS-232 crossover cable)

The following picture show my configuration on putty

and when i try to connect the screen does not shows anything:

It is strange that you do not see any output on the console at all.

- check your cabling by looping back pins 2 and 3  and typing.  If the cabling is good you will see what you type on the console.   Use a paper clip to connect pins 2 and 3.

- if the loopback test works, plug the cable back into the switch and try different baud rates.   115200 is popular, but anything is possible.

Now I plug the cable back into the switch and try different baud rates.  From 300 up to 921600 and I can't see anything.  

Any others ideas?

Does the switch have any signs of life?  Any LEDs lit, etc.  If not, then it may be dead.
