Sample config for a 6224

hi there,

I have attached a config I have built for a Dell Powerconnect 6224. I have setup 2 of these and they are designed to be used with 3 ESXi servers and an equallogic SAN.

I was hoping someone more knowledgeable than I could take a look at the attached config to check all looks good as I have not set these up before. I have created separate vlans for iSCSI and vMotion traffic with a 4 port LAG.

I appreciate any feedback on this.

    Hi,

    Configurations looks fine, but I have few comments:

    1. It's better to turn on flow control on interfaces in iSCSI VLAN
    2. You have turned off spanning-tree protocol. Are you sure that won't be an issue? Maybe better turn it on with portfast feature
    3. Normally you needn't routing between iSCSI and vMotion VLANs
    4. If you can it's always better to create stack and don't use LAG

    HI,

    That's just one thing that you can change in your interface config: disable unicast storm control in iSCSI VLAN interfaces. It can be an issue with high traffic utilization.

    To disable routing just enter no routing in VLAN configuaration mode.

    thanks for the feedback - much appreciated!

     

    I had already run the "flowcontol" command. Is there something I need to do at the interface level?

    Also how do you disable routing?
