When I was poking around at my routers configuration I noticed that there was some ports being forwarded for limewire. I did not put them in there and I was wondering how they got there. When I was installing Limewire the windows firewall asked me if I wanted to open the ports and I clicked yes. Does the Windows Xp firewall pass this request on to the router?
Some routers support a feature called "
Universal Plug and Play" (UPnP) that will produce a result like that. Fortunately, you were asked by the firewall software whether it was OK to open the ports, so you knew something was being changed.
I personally consider UPnP a bit worrisome, and would prefer to have to make port forwarding changes manually in the router.
