Connecting 610c to Network
Just bought a refurbished 610c with wireless G in place. Running Windows 2000 Pro. My Dell desktop dimension 8400 is running Windows XP Home. Went through the various wizards and wind up with a "cable unplugged" error message. The desktop connects to the Internet just fine.

- The "cable unplugged" message refers to the ethernet adapter in your computer. Since you are not connecting anything to the ethernet adapter, then there is no calbe plugged in and the message is just an informational message telling you that.The WPC54G wireless adapter is not a Dell wireless adapter. It is a Linksys adapter. Drivers for that network card should be available on the Linksys support site - www.linksys.com .Steve

On my desktop I have a DSL/router combo modem. The refurbished Latitude 610c operates under Windows 2000. It has a wireless G network adapter (WPC54G). My goal is to be able to use the Latitude wirelessly with the desktop as the host. I'd also like to be able to use "Hotspots." I looked at the Dell\Drivers and found the one for Dell's TrueMobile 1300 which I assume are for the WPC54G adapter. The "Readme" file refers to a Dell help file that says to use the Dell wireless WLAN utility on Windows 2000. That utility does not appear on the Control Panel which is mentioned in the Dell help file. An icon appears on the laptop task bar that indicates "WPC54G is not connected." The desktop is running Windows XP.
