Hi all i have a dimension 3000 desktop with windows xp home
i have already had the modem replaced about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I had my computer packed away in the boxes for bout a month and half while we were moving i went n hooked it back up yesterday to connect it to internet and for some reason i have no modem. When i go into phone and modem options my modem name is there and beside it says not present its a conexant d850 56k v.9 dfvc modem.Aswell when i go into device driver there is no option for modem all though i do have the option for ethernet that has a yellow question mark beside it.. it worked fine before i put it in the box i had it on dial up internet. Now i would like to put it on highspeed but it as well has no LAN option in my network connections. Can someone help me please i cant get help over the phone, i am working off my laptop to try n figure out what i can do with desktop... Thank you in advance..
I am also trying to find out what i need for intel proset wired if that is what i need for my LAN. i have intel proset for wired connections on my computer but it has nothing in there it just says network components and then nothing else..In the ethernet controller properties if i click on to reinstall it asks for a disk and im not sure if i have it or not on the site it doesnt really tell me anything bout the disks And if i download from the site im not sure if i am getting the right one.. I phoned dell yesterday but they wont help me :( But i will try what you sugested ieee488 thanks
