I'm trying to install an unlocked Huawei E220 broadband modem on an Inspiron 6400 1GB laptop running XP home SP2.  The modem appears in device manager for a few seconds, then disppears, then reappears etc, each time accompanied by the Windows beep tone that occurs when you connect/disconnect a peripheral.  The green light blinks on the modem, i guess as it should.  I've tried updating the modem firmware & drivers from the Huawei site, but the software can't find the modem.  If there's anybody out there who can help, I'd be grateful.
