I've recently got a Inspiron 9300. Yesterday I've installed Microsoft Antispyware and launced the application. It was working fine. It has prompted a spyware of moderate category. I skipped to remove it. The application has prompted me for browser settings
. I selected which ever has come atomatically. When I restarted my computer, I was able to connect to wireless network but not able to launch my browser. But the messengers were working fine.
For solving the problem, I changed all the settings in the IE to default. But still the problem persisted. Then I uninstalled the Antispyware, still with no hope. Then I restored to my previous savepoint.
Now it looks like working fine. I wanted to know whether the diagnotics I've done are correct. And anything got to be done. I'm using Norton for Anti virus/spyware. Why such problem has come?
If you have recently purchased an I 9300 from Dell, it probably came with Windows XP installed. Windows firewall is an active application with that operating system. Probably, Dell also included a copy of Norton Internet Security which also has an active software firewall. Both of these firewalls when active can create conflicts between programs.
You will most likely have to deactivate one of the two firewalls and properly configure the other...
MRF, Thanx for your information. May be the Microsoft Antispyware has changed the settings.
Earlier, Microsoft Anti spyware has detected one spyware, but Norton hasn't detected any such spyware till now.
Can any one suggest me the best Anti spyware available?
In continuation with my previous query, I got little annoyed if I were to format and reinstall the softwares.
I got the OS annd driver CD from Dell. I have got DVD writer, but Dell hasn't given me the software. Should I need to purchase. I beleive any vendor would give software along with the purchase of harware.
