Windows 8.1 / Broadcom Issue
I have an Inspiron 15 (N5050) laptop that is using a Broadcom 802.11n network adapter. After I upgraded to Windows 8.1 the initial connection to the Internet is very slow. Once the connection is established everything operates as expected. Here is the typical series of events that occur after the laptop is turned on:
- No internet connection
- A check of available networks shows a neighbor's network but nothing from the wireless router that sits three feet away
- Turning the Wi-Fi on and off repeatedly eventually shows my network as available
This problem arose after an upgrade to Windows 8.1. Everything worked properly before the upgrade.
