Wireless adapter missing

I have re-installed XP then the drivers for my Inspiron B130 from the original discs, in the order recommended. I can access the internet OK, but I keep getting a message in the toolbar that says I need to install a wireless adapter. Anybody have this problem with a solution?

    Hi,

    Welcome to the Community.

To my understanding, you are using the internet on the laptop with a wired connection. After reinstalling the windows XP on the system, you have to update all the drivers on the system and this is the reason for the popup ,as  the wireless adapter driver is not installed. The wireless adapter used on this system is Intel pro wireless. I would suggest that, if you do not want to use the  computer wirelessly, then you can go to device manager and disable the wireless feature, the popup will stop coming up.

    Please reply if anymore queries.

    Thanks and Regards

    jwg35815,

When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
