Open the Dell Wireless Utility and uncheck the box at the top next to "Let this utility manage my wireless network connections".

That is what the Linksys tech was trying to do but we could not find where to do this. It is not in start> all programs.  Could you please tell me where this is so I can do as you say?

Under wireless I see True Mobile Wireless and another is wireless network setup wizard.

I was advised to remove the adapter and also the software but the advisor has not responded.

I guess I will try to reinstall the adapter. Would you conclude the pc is all set if I only have undr network connections 1394 Connection and Local area connection?

If there is no wireless connection in Network Connections, then it suggests that the drivers for your wireless adapters are not installed.  Still, the issue is very confusing because intitially you said you installed drivers for the Trendnet adpater.  Can you clarify the issue?

I wanted to let you know how things stand now. I went to the store and the tech at the knowledge bar said he suspects the adapter so I got a Netgear Caard to insert in the slot rather than the usb.

During the discussion he said getting patches sent to you after the sale is an indication of trouble. A tech from Trendnet sent me an email which I had to burn to cd.

I could not remove that usb adapter from add/remove. I then began getting errors like the add remove panel not populating.

 

Right now I have finished formatting and am reinstalling the os and drivers. I will then attempt to go through the drill again.

I'll be in touch hopefuly with my laptop.
