Wireless-Wpa dis-connect

Hello All,

I am using a Linksys router with a Dell Truemobile 1300 Adaptor internal card. On occasion, after being connected  for about 1/2 hr, the connection drops. It seems the only way I can get the system to re-connect, is to recycle my cable modem and the router. After this, everything is fine, I am thinking that there is some interference some were. The router is on the 2nd floor and I am using the laptop 1 floor down.

Regards,
Al

Make sure you are using the latest firmware for the router, the latest driver for the 1300, not using or have running the Truemobile wireless utility, letting Windows handle the wireless connection, and no 2.4ghz phone or computer near the router.

    Hi John,

Thanks for the repy. All of these areas have been checked out. No 2.4 phones in the house. However, the truemobile utility you are speaking about, how  do I find this out if it is runnig or not? If it is running, what islosed by me turning it off?

Not having a Truemobile product, I don't know how it is id'd, what it is called, or how it is started.  Look in the Task Manager for a process or go to Start - Run - msconfig and on the startup tab see if it is there.  Or you could just uninstall the utility, leaving the driver.

Double click on the "signal strength meter" in the system tray...a window "Wireless Network Connection Properties" will open up. The "Wireless Networks" Tab should be selected. If "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" is selected, then don't worry the "truemobile utility" is not doing anything.

    Hi,

Yes, that seems to be correct. When checked, Windows is doing the connections. I changed my router channel, I thought this may have done the trick, since I was on for about 1/2 hr, then I was disconnected, had to power off / power on my router to get re-connected. I think I have some sort of interference in the house. I even moved the router a couple of feet a way from the cable modem. It could also be the Dell Truemobile 1300 card. All of the current driver are on from the router and the card. Not a big deal, just a pain having to leave the living room, go up 1 floor to reset the router etc.

    Thanks all,

    Al
