7010, cannot flash Bios
Hi I hope someone can help with this problem I have.
I repair Dell OptiPlex 7010, The last thing I normal do is flash the Bios to level my customer need. A29 is the level right now
I have this one come in not booting, only needed a new Bios battery. Fitted new battery and jumper the clear the CMOS out. It passed PC check fine.
But when I try to flash the Bios is does not work. From A25.
To be safe a download file and made a new USB stick but it still the same.
When I try to flash it boot up of my USB drive fine I run the flash file and it asked if I want to update the Bios. I say yeas it then say preparing to update it then reboot.
Normal at this point it will update the Bios, but all it does is boot back of the USB stick and does not update the Bios.
I used the USB a number of time after this all worked fine so it not the stick.
How do I fix this?

Nope A29 runs fine from free dos and ms dos, as I flash them all the time with it. But I did give it a go in windows 10 got the same point and got the same error.3686

After getting to flash in service mode to level A25, it still would not flash in normal mode to A29. Then over night it drop the Intel management engine CTRL P did not work and when I ran flash program it no longer said anything about the Intel management engine, so board is duff.1

I solved mine closing the "Service_Mode" jumper to upgrade the BIOS.

and this on DDDC burn with USB
freedos works but only if you enable emm368 or the newest one.

Windows will say ME not installed unless you have the chipset drivers.
Bios updates in windows must be run as administrator.

if you burn under windows there is always great risk.
OS corruption.?
not running in admin mode. (or as posted wrong chip drives loaded ,seen in Device manager)
not using a UPS
having the wrong rom.bin file. (some need matching to mobo version numbers, ok?>)
and UEFI, will block you, that is it's job. (most pCs it must be turned off first)
jumping v1 to v20 in one leap, now that takes (bravery max)
also the most newest UEFI bios version may say ,no trips back allowed by new rules. (this is to prevent stolen PCs from regressing BIOS to gain PW access to it,)
(each OEM varies here and by model PC) so if the new version fails, then trip back does too, above photo fails too. (nice ?)

Newer versions of bios are too large to fit into FREEDOS 2 megs of ram.
You will have to clean install Windows, chipset, and Intel AMT HECI SOL drivers then Run the bios update from Windows.
