I’m currently refurbishing a Dell Optiplex 7010 Mini Tower Desktop PC and I need a new processor, i’ve seen a second hand processor which is an Intel i5-3570 (3.4Ghz) LGA 1155 Processor, is this compatible with the machine?
I know the motherboard is a Socket Type of 1155 but not sure if the processor will be compatible.
The motherboard had to be replaced and the new one doesn’t have a processor installed however it looks the same as the one I took out and is still a Socket 1155 board. The CPU I removed from my PC was an Intel Core i3-2120.
Not entirely sure what processor was originally on the motherboard that I installed as like I said it didn’t come with one installed.
I have however got the eBay listing so I could send you a link to show you what board I have bought.
Sadly I couldn’t test it because the the i3-2120 that I removed from my damaged motherboard, the i3 was damaged as well as the PCB was snapped in two corners from the previous owner, I need a new processor but wanted something more powerful than an i3 hence why I started this thread.
If you do go with an I7-3770k, just know that Dell BIOS doesn't have overclocking. Base frequency for the I7-3770k is 3.5GHz, a hardly noticeable difference from the I7-3770 which is 3.4GHz. Both CPU's have a turbo speed of 3.9GHz.
