dell optiplex
h I need help with my desk top Dell OptiPlex 980 small form factor....running windows 10 pro.....so what happened was that power trip ....and power come up my computer went on by itself and I hard switch off by pressing and hold the power button. And the following day I try to switch it on then was just do nothing I open the box I see the yellow light on the motherboard was on ...and I press and hold the black button behind the PSU and the fan goes on but still no action on computer . and then I open the computer and clean all the dust was in .I also change the battery after I change it now when I switch it on it shows amber 3 flashing but nothing is running

Hey Buddy,
I've had some problems with my 3060 recently and 'rediscovered' the build-in diagnostics under the BIOS boot (F12 key on boot). Should have the same built in tools... see if you can find this option and run the full test.

first thing to try is unplug power cord, drain residual power by pressing power button until mobo yellow light dies completely. Reset CMOs jumper (#2 RTCRST) on motherboard to clear CMOs settings and also replace CMOs coin battery with a brand new one.

#3 is possible system board (motherboard) failure.
Considering a power failure, anything is possible, motherboard, power supply or even both. Best suggestion is to have a pc repair shop evaluate it and tell you what is wrong.
