hard drive not detected
So I recently bought a used Dell Optiplex 3020 with a GTX 970 and a i7 4790 off of EBay. The description stated that it didn't come with a hard drive and that meant I would need to go out and buy one. I bought one and plugged it in with help from a YouTube guide and booted it up, but it said it wasn't recognized. I searched up on why this could've happened and the most common reason I found was I needed to update my motherboard BIOS. I go to Dell's official BIOS update for the 3020 and it says I have to change my boot sequence to legacy but it has been grayed out. I'm really confused on what to do and any help would be appreciated.

No you do not need to update bios for the HDD to work, but you need to install an OS on the HDD before pc can boot from the HDD. When you buy an HDD from someone, more likely it has been wiped which could mean it has no partition, or it is “unallocated”, or it has a fresh new single partition and has been formatted but has no OS installed. It is like an empty folder with nothing in it. Seller typically would not sell you an HDD with an intact and clean OS already installed for you. In any case you can do a clean OS install on the HDD.
