PowerEdge T105 Netware Drivers
Hello,
I recently purchased a PE T105, Opteron 1210, 6/IR controller with 2x 146GB HDs in Raid 1. I haven't found any supported drivers for Novell Netware. I'd rather not install MS Server 03, only because that will cost too much money for my company, as we already have the Novell license.
Speaking to a Dell rep, he suggested using one of the new overlay CDs from Novell to try and see if the controller will be seen. I don't have the server yet, neither am I the one installing. The server will be configured by a corporate office far from my location, so I have no way of playing around with the issue. All I can do is shoot suggestions to an already irate IT guy, who's about to give up.
Being that the T105 is somewhat new, I understand that the drivers aren't around yet, but I'm wondering if there are is anyone with some knowledge of this server, or who has possibly successfully installed a Netware copy on this server.
Also, and this is a bit off topic; If my business has a copy of MS server 2003 running in their servers, and my only option is to move to MS server, can I just purchase additional CALs and install the server software on my new server to serve a different office? Or must I purchase the entire MS Server edition? I was under the impression that if a company/person has server software, all they needed was additional CALs to expand. Thank you for any help. Victor

- Thank you for your reply. Problem is Novell Netware (any version) isn't "certified". I ordered a pretty barebones system. My only concern will be getting the SAS 6/ir controller to function properly. Since there are no specific drivers for the PE T105 for Novell, a dell rep showed me another PE that had a SAS 6/ir controller, and had Novell drivers. I'm hoping this is possible. I see no reason why not. The controller, if I'm understanding this right, should be seen by Novell with the proper drivers no matter what system it's in, no? (easy set ups I mean, not extremes). I'm checking weekly, while the server is being built, seeing if Novell will eventually be certified. Thanks again for the response.
