SAS 6/IR update
The server is a Poweredge R210 running SBS 2011. I will be replacing one of the raid 1 drives that has failed and thought about updating the SAS 6/IR as well. The readme in the update mentions that the current firmware must be at least 00.20.45.00 to be able to update to the 00.25.47.00 version. I have a couple of questions on this:
- How do I see what level the current firmware is at? If I look at the device driver, I am not seeing the firmware level.
- To run the update, the readme says: To flash, boot to a DOS environment and execute the included batch file from the Command line. Does this mean I can just open a command prompt to run the update?

You shouldn’t need to update the bios.

Hi,
It should be done outside of the OS. The easiest way to do this is to create a bootable usb stick and copy the extracted firmware update to it. Boot to it, press 4 to quit and run from the DOS prompt. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/4/SLN143196/EN
