Dell Utilities
Hello,
Is there a utility which i can run on a dell poweredge server which will interrogate the server and provide
me the configuration details of my server and also the bios/firmware information which will enable me to
view and determine if i need to update any firmware levels on the server?
No Events found!

There is something called DSET.
"It will also collect basic information about the
system's storage such as active drives, RAID containers, etc. DSET will also
collect extended hardware information such as processors, memory, PCI cards,
ESM log, BIOS/firmware versions and system health (fan/voltage levels).
If Dell OpenManage Array Manager 2.5 or later is installed, DSET will gather
Dell-specific storage information such as PERC controllers and their firmware,
array/containers, enclosures and physical hard drives installed, etc. DSET
always collects Windows NT/2000 information such as services, tasks, drivers,
and events logs, etc."
Hope this helps

DSET is great as a support tool for Dell..... but you must run it on all servers, get an output, then manually view each one. Pain.
The BEST way to do what you are trying is to ensure you have Server Administrator installed on all your Dell servers.... then take a PC/Server, and install the free Dell ITA program. This will let you add all your servers, monitor them, and collect inventory information on all of them in one console. You can then immediately export these inventory reports to Xcel, etc.... its a great tool for this. This is how I maintain proper version control audits, etc... with the least amount of work.

Dell provides the Dell Open Manage Server Applications (OMSA) CD which will provide the information you are looking for.
Server Administrator will allow you to remotely monitor the server.
IT assistant will monitor the helath of the server.
Array Manager will allow you to manage the Array's attached to the PERC controllers.
These applications can be located at http://support.dell.com
Add in the requested information and download the software.
Happy New Year.....
