PowerMax

In a PowerMax array, an initiator is a part of multiple initiator groups including a cascaded initiator group.

Running the symcli command: symaccess -sid xxxx list view|grep gives only the non-cascaded initiator group names in the output, especifically the one having the hostname in the initiator group name.

symaccess -sid list -type initiator|grep , provides just the non-cascaded initiator group name.

How can I get information on which initiator groups including the cascaded ones, an initiator is a part of?

"For loops" as answers to the above are appreciated as well.

    Hi,

Page 334 has a command that may show it but there are not many options for getting the information. You may also be able to get it from unisphere.  https://dell.to/3KCnyHh

Our ansible module page shows what info it can pull. https://dell.to/3Rr56U6 I don’t see anything for cascaded initiators.

    Hello Josh,

    Unisphere does help.

Thank you for providing the guide with the page number to refer.

Unfortunately the page does not have the information I am looking for.

Can  a 'for loop' containing 'symaccess -sid xxxx list -type init' and then 'symaccess -sid xxxx show $i -type init' | grep (this is the hostname which is present in multiple initiator groups, including the cascaded ones) be run?

I tried a few for loops in the symcli management server,  but they failed with some syntax errors.

    I referred this post: https://www.dell.com/community/VMAX/VMAX-initiators-and-storage-summary/td-p/6905152

If possible, please help me with the for loop to find in which initiator (host) groups including the cascaded ones, a particular host is present.

    Thanks,

    Symm_Unlimited

I haven’t been able to find anything else as we don’t support scripting, maybe someone in the community has a solution.
