Mini SAS Ports on XEON Based T5820
So, I've received mixed answers regarding this. I have the XEON based T5820 and I noticed two MiniSAS ports on the motherboard. I'd like to add two SAS Hard Disk Drives for mass storage, but I'm confused as to what directions I can take. Obviously, I could purchase a SAS HBA or RAID controller, but I only want to do that if absolutely necessary.
Regarding these two MiniSAS ports on the motherboard, can I purchase a SAS cable for these or is it for U.2/NVME only? I've read a few places the Xeon based T5820 has a built in PERC controller. The documentation online is very general and covers the Xeon and Non-Xeon based systems so the information to me seems obfuscated.
I'm open to utilizing the 5.25 bay or the flexbay. Any solid information on this would be appreciated.

don't trust chatgpt. Those 2 ports are for the nvme flexbay option, and they support Intel Vroc

Just a side note. I turned to ChatGPT and asked it about the MiniSAS ports. I don't know if it's true but it claims that every Xeon based T5820 has a builtin PERC controller capable of supporting SAS. It goes on to specify the MegaRAID controller is only needed if I want more SAS drives than the internal PERC controller supports. Can someone please clarify or verify?
If true, what cables would I need for either the standard flexbays or the optional 5.25 HDD bay?
