Dell Precision 5570 - discrete graphics controller direct output mode
Hi, I have a Precision 5570. I'm struggling with proper setup of NVidia card with external monitor through a docking station. The thing I'm missing is an option that on a previous DELL BIOS called "discrete graphics controller direct output mode". Is there any possibility to activate it on 5570?
we can provide you with some general guidance on setting up an external monitor with an NVIDIA graphics card through a docking station.
Connect the Docking Station:
Make sure the docking station is properly connected to your laptop.
Connect your external monitor to the docking station.
Check NVIDIA Control Panel:
Right-click on your desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel."
Navigate to "Set up multiple displays" under the "Display" category.
Configure External Monitor:
Ensure that the external monitor is recognized by the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Select the external monitor and configure its settings, such as resolution and refresh rate.
Check Windows Display Settings:
Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
Verify that both displays are detected, and you can arrange them according to your preference.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
While you mentioned a specific BIOS setting, it's important to note that not all laptops have the same BIOS options.
Check the BIOS/UEFI settings for any options related to graphics or display configuration. If you find an option that seems relevant, adjust it accordingly.
Update Drivers:
Ensure that your NVIDIA graphics drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the official NVIDIA website.
Dell Support:
Visit the Dell support website for your specific model (Precision 5570) and check for any BIOS updates or support documentation related to graphics configuration.
Contact Dell Support:
If you are unable to find a solution, consider reaching out to Dell technical support for assistance. They may provide specific guidance based on your laptop model and its BIOS version.
I too am looking for a solution. I dont see this option and the reason im looking for it is because when my 5570 is booting, I dont get any output on my external monitor until Windows loads to the login screen and this is frustrating because I cant get into the BIOS unless I open the laptop lid. Is there a solution to this? The dock im using with my 5570 is WD22TB4. I already ran Dell Command Update and updated all the drivers, firmware/BIOS. Enabled, what I think are, all the relevant TB/dock features in the BIOS, but I still cant get this to work.

Are you running a Thunderbolt dock (which should allow direct video) or a USB-C dock (which won't)?
