I recently bought a Dell AIO 962 printer and a 3300 wireless adapter. The wireless printing and direct copying features work fine, but I am unable to get the printer to scan documents from the unit itself and send them to the Dimension 3000 computer. I have heard that the scanning features should work on the AIO 962 itself. The copying does but the scanning features don't work. Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem (software or hardware)? I am running Windows XP Home Edition and a D-link wireless router (w/DSL).
when scanning from the printer itself, it should show you a computer name. (which you put in when you install software, providing you chose the network installation option) it should then goto "downloading application list" then to a list of programs.
if the message is stuck on downloading application list, you might have to disable your windows firewall, or any other firewall you have installed. if that solves the problem, then you need to configure the firewall.
I just received a 962 AIO and found the same problem. The Windows firewall was already disabled as I have NAV running. (I did follow the instructions in the Dell tech doc anyway and set the values suggested for the 962.). I disabled NAV completely and had no AV or firewall running as far as I can tell and the printer still is unable to load the application list but after about 30 seconds or so returns to the select PC screen.
I have not found any other info on the Dell site -- are there any other steps to follow or steps I am missing?
