i am having a problem with my ink levels- please help ! i use a920 catridge and the meter will not register as being full. customer service said to call support and vice-versa. the sales people are so pushy i cant take it . this pc and printer are 6 months old. should i just trash it and get a new one
If your printer is printing ok, why are you concerned that the meter isn't perfectly accurate? The meters are not perfectly accurate and have no effect on how long the ink will last. Even when it says almost out of ink, it will still print until the cartridge is physically out of ink.
The Ink level monitor software on the computer does not physically measure the ink level. It just keeps reducing whenever you print. So, whenever you take your cartridge out and put it in, printer needs to know whether its a new one or old , so that it can track/reset the Ink level.
On other model printers, It appears on the printer screen asking black cartridge, new/old?? and you can choose accordingly.
In case of A920 there is no printer screen, so you can do it this way:
Start>All pgms>Dell printers>Dell AIO A920>Printer solution center>maintanance tab>Install new print cartridge>it shows how to install cartridge, click continue/next>It asks a question "is the cartridge new or old">answer as new only the first time you put a new cartridge, so that it reset the ink levels to full.
No....don't trash it. I've been having the same problems and they told me to..........................
Click on start.....go to my computer...and click on the printer icon then disconnect the program. If it disconnects then shut off the computer, restart it, and then reload the program with your printer CD.
If it says printer is busy then start the computer and click on F8 key, use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode and press enter key. Then disconnect the program [printer program] and to exit the safe mode click the start button, turn off the computer and restart. I guess you the have to use your dell printer CD and reinstall the program. They told me that should solve the problem. If it does not...then align your print cartridges. Then they told me if all of that does not work......try a new cartridge in the printer. Good luck
