If you are looking at new printers, the specs on the Dell sales web site will list what it is compatible with.  If there is a specific model, go to the downloads for that model and if it's compatible with Vista there will be Vista drivers listed.  Click on "drivers and downloads" on the lower left of this page.

Other brands??  Go to each vendor's web site and you can find out what products each vendor has that is Vista compatible.

Not to be a wise guy, but do your own leg work, don't ask someone else to go checking vendor's web sites to see what is or isn't compatible.

That's the problem.  I have been doing a ton of legwork and even though a printer says it is compatible, i read horror stories when it comes to consumer reviews of the products.  Just wondering if anyone had a printer that they could say from hands on experience "Yes this one does work"

I have a new Epson Sylus Photo RX680 all in one that I installed on my Vista Home Premium PC.  It is working without problems.   Prior to the RX680, I had an older Epson that was originally used on Windows XP, when I upgraded to Vista I downloaded the Vista drivers from Epson and it worked flawlessly.  I use Epson's as they are the only ink jets that will print directly on CD and DVD's - I do a lot of audio CD work as I have a home recording studio and I do not use the paper labels (they are problems and passe).

I do part time PC support and have two customers with Vista and one has an older HP all in one that works fine on Vista.  The other customer has a cheap Lexmark (I don't recommend Lexmark's) that they got with a new Vista PC and it's working OK too.

I wouldn't believe all the "horror stories" about Vista or Vista compatibilites.  there are some older model Dell's that seem to be having some issues posted here but you have to realize that what is posted on this forum is a very very small minority of all users.
