You will most likely not like this answer. The 3300MP does NOT correctly display progressive-scan DVD output. If your picture looks good, then it is NOT progressive (it has to do with the source selector incorrectly interpreting those signals). If it looks unacceptably green, then it is trying to process a progressive signal. Many other posts document this as well.

480-i is an interlaced signal (hence i). Also, you can check the received resolution through the menu system with the remote.

Thanks Ken for the help.  I have tried playing with settings last night, here is my take on it

1)Turn the projector on.

2) Turn the dvd player on, dont put dvd in the disc tray.

3) Turn progressive switch on dvd player remote. The auto source will find the component-P input.

4) Now insert the dvd in the player and after loading, play the dvd

5) Wow, you will see component-P when you choose menu, you can see the input type

6) Colors look very sharp than, finally Sea and sky is blue and grass is green, pic looks very sharp also, you might need to adjust brightness a bit to make it look not very dark, and trust me the pic does not look green at all.

Well, this proves that I know nothing. I am not sure how I could not make it work before, as following your recommended sequence did indeed yield a progressive picture which I also felt was too dark (easily adjusted, though) but otherwise intact on the first attempt.

For what it's worth, I am not the only user who did not have initial success with progressive scan, and somewhere on one of these threads I think the official Dell "FAQ" recommends against using progressive scanning with this model.

I CAN confirm that the projector sometimes has trouble determining the "correct" source of the many choices that can come in through the digital port. Specifically, I have a VGA -> component converter for use with remote computers (there was no easy way to run a VGA cable to where the projector is mounted); when sending the component output at 720p, it is correctly displayed. However, when sending the same output with the same hardware but the display adaptor set to 768p, the projector no longer recognizes a "component" input and instead displays it (incorrectly) as analog VGA, all in green. However, right now at least it seems to be appropriately recognizing the 480p signal as component, and not trying to display it as analog VGA.

So, a million thanks on behalf of myself and the others who have posted on this board because of difficulties using progressive output!!!

I used to get component-P input on the 2200mp with my el-cheapo progressive scan dvd player, but the image looks a bit blocky and artificial. So i guess that'sthe dvd player's fault since it's el-cheapo.

However, I might have another go using a better PS dvd player using the said steps to see if there's improvements....

Wow I might not even be using my progressive. Since I bought my 3200 I just switched it to progressive on the back of the dvd player and have been using it ever since that way assuming it was progressive.
