Using Latitude D620 with projectors
Hi there;
I have a Dell Latitude D620 with the nVidia Quadro NVS 100 and i use it at home and work... When at home i run it against an Acer flat screen and it works great - outputting to both at the same time, no problems with screen clarity or anything... I run my presentations - it all works great...
However - when I take my laptop to work and go against a range of different projectors... when ever i launch Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 i get several very wierd problems...
1) if i try to present the presentation i.e. slideshow mode / F5 - i can't press forward using the space bar or n for next or page down..... ? As soon as i do, it goes forward 1 slide and goes straight back to the slide it was on i.e. i can't progress forward
2) If I go into slide mode i.e. editing a slide... the slide and resolution seems to zoom to 400% and i can't bring it down.... and the keyboard seems to act like the CTRL key is pressed down permanantly i.e. in a loop..... and i heard the sound continuously beeping as if i'm pressing it down..
I'm running Windows XP SP 2 - any ideas?

- We have a similar problem with a D620 and the Quadro board --Any time the laptop is used in presentation mode (FN-F8) to flip to the projector, all Office apps will immediately zoom to full.If you adjust the document to 100%, they re-zoom immediately to full.Nothing in the NV control panel seems to address this. Where's the setting?
- We have a similar issue with D620s at our company. We are finding there is some conflict occurring with this function when Microsoft IntelliType is installed. This has been a common issue for many of our D610 and D620 users.As a workaround, open Task Manager and end task on "itype.exe" or "type32.exe" depending on the IntelliType version prior to pressing FN + F8.So far, we have upgraded the video driver, bios and Alps touchpad drivers to try and resolve the issue on our D610s. We have not had any favorable results yet.

yes... i have done the same... on A12 Bios... i have tried uninstalling the drivers.. running the wizards whilst connected.. downscaling resolution... turning of the caching.... eventually - i tried just starting Windows XP in safe mode with networking support (by pressing F8 when it loads up) and then i can display on the projector with powerpoint working fine..... but i have no display on my laptop i.e. outputs only to projector....I have a fellow employee who has the same machine... but without the nVidia card and his works fine with projectors....i will try killing the .exe's you mentioned below... that is very interesting as i do have itype.exe installed... i can't try it until tomorrow... if it works / if it doesn't i'll put a response up here either way...thanks for the info...DarrenDarrenCrowder

so i tested out what was recommended on the killing of itype.exe and it worked superbly.... many thanks for that information - its proved to be a very useful work around...so if anyone else out there has a ms wireless mouse or keyboard and they have a dell latitude d620... be warned.. they don't work together when running against projectors (at least at the moment)regards, Darren- Thanks for the information, Kyrrian. I found that solution elsewhere on the internet and unfortunately the zoom tab only displays in the software if you have the correct keyboard chosen. In my version, I do not have a zoom tab and I have tried several versions (5.4, 6.0 and 6.1). I did have the Scrolling tab, but not the zoom. I suppose there probably is a registry key associated with the zoom feature, but I have not pursued.

Well, after posting I decided to reload the video driver, and wouldn't you know it, it is working fine now. I guess the driver was corrupted upon delivery as this machine has been turned on about 3 times since getting it a couple weeks ago.ScottByrum

I have a new D620 as well as a Dimension 8600. I recently purchased an Optoma EP1690 projector and the Latitude will not connect. My Dimension works great but all I have been able to manage from the D620 is a flickering screen with an occasional icon. I have traced the problem to the D620 video output. I have changed refresh rates, resolution, and video input sources but still no picture. What gives with this laptop? Anyone with another solution?

Im just looking for solution to a different problem but have had this issue myself with staff at where i work...on a latitude D420 but still very similar issue.
What i found is sorta just a work around...and you may have already tried this, but instead of just using the Fn+F8 keys to go to projector aswell as notebook display...i used the Nvidia control panel (right click menu on desktop and should be in the menu)
Using that to change display config to both displays (or just projector etc) i have not had that issue arise since. Every time i switch to projector using the Fn keys though i still get the problem...If you aint tried that, check it out and see if it helps...hope it does:)
