I'm totally lost with Dell documentation about different memory configurations. I was planning to have a R710 single socket with 72GB ram but seems like it's not possible. All I can find from specification is that there are 18 DIMM slots but shouldn't it be that 9 are dedicated for both sockets? So in theory 9x8GB = 72Gb but my Dell sales man says that is not possible. He is only offering me 6x16GB or which sounds totally stupid and way too expensive.

Can someone advice if Dell has a rack server which can be configured with 1 CPU, 72GB (preferrably 1333Mhz) ?
