hi evry1 i am currently working on the installation of source one at one of my clients place, they have mostly everything set up including the service accounts, i have gone through the installation guide and have few questions regarding the installation. can any one of you who have had hands of experience on installing the source one email management client brief me the exact steps that we need to follow?
Thank you for the quick reply Gary, the client is already using the Email Xtender 4.8 so they have the DB set up and they have an old exchange server and also a storage where the archived messages from the xtender are saved, now i will have to just install the source one email management client and configure it in such a way that it reads the emails already in the email extender archive i think i can do that while configuring the source one but my initial question is i just install the source one exe on the new server and then configure the archiving?
I am sorry for the confusion Gary, let me try to be more clear. My client has the email xtender installed right now. They want to install the Source one and then be able to read the emails that were archived by the email xtender earlier.
Right now i have unzipped the file and i see what all softwares are here that are to be installed.
So according to your first reply i shall first install the Database Setup.exe and then go ahead with the other installations. So when installing the Database setup i need to be on the computer that hosts the sql server right? please help me with this
I'm confused on what you are trying to accomplish.
If this is a SourceOne installation to replace EmailXtender then you have to do a complete SourceOne install and then add EmailXtender as a Read-Only Archive.
Then repoint the SourceOne Client to SourceOne Server instead of EmailXtender.
If that is not what you are trying to accomplish then you need to explain it better.
You don't have to give one to SQL but you should have done sizing calculations for the Customer ahead of time for them to allocate the proper amount of storage needed for some pre-determined fixed period of time.
the customer had allocated a drive of 1tb for the storage i did not do the source one install earlier this is my first time and the customer wants it do be done at the earliest thats why there has been a lot of confusion here, now i have installed the databases and trying to install the master services when i enter the domain name, service name and password and try to continue i am getting an error "Failed to get the Domain Controller Name In order to Query the Groups" is it because i am specifying a wrong domain name?
