Symantic restore

I have installed a second hard drive on my Dimension 2400 and installed a second operating system to this drive. I have now lost the ability to ctrl+F11 to restore my PC to factory defaults. Can anybody please help

    Once you did the manual install, the boot sector was altered, deactivating the restore partition.
    If you need to restore, you will need to do so with another manual installation.

    I saw this post as it seems related to mine.

    By "manual", do you mean using the supplied CD (if one was supplied).

    In detail, what exactly does the supplied CD do, apart from reinstall the OS. Does it also restore the HD to factory arrangement? That is, recreate the MBR so that the recovery partition is accessible once again?
