problems updating server idrac 9

Hi, i have a t440 running latest idrac (4.40.00.00) and latest bios (2.9.3), when i boot the server to lifecycle controller and search for new updates i get a swc0066, i'm not using a proxy just straight chose that it should search the updates from the dell website.

i have run the "test network connection" and it shows green.

when searching for a fix i found this information: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/sv-se/000177916/lifecycle-controller-platform-updates-failing-from-dell-s-online-repositories?lang=en

but it looks that's for a older version of idrac, and it should work on the latest 4.40.00.00, right?

any idea what i should try?

i have tried rebooting the idrac, but of course that didn't help.

it has worked before, and nothing has changed on the network.

Are you trying with downloads.dell.com. Can you share the settings mentioned on the update page in lifecycle controller. If you are trying with downloads.dell.com, can you try only with https and share name as downloads.dell.com and keep all other fields as blank

I have exactly the same problem. Screenshots are identical with exactly this error. Setting up a new R340.

Can you try doing update of server component using iDRAC and check the behavior. Sometime we observed firewall on the network blocking update from downloads.dell.com. Can you also verify from another machine on same network whether you able to download below file.

Yes, I can download that file just fine over the network.

The Dell repositories are definitely reachable. If I rollback the firmware to 4.32.10.00 the problem disappears and everything is just fine. It's only after updating to 4.40.00.00 that I get the swc0066 error.

What do you mean "try doing update of server component using iDRAC"? How exactly do I do that? I'm just using the "update firmware" feature in the LCC. I'm new to Dell so I need a little bit more help here. Thanks.

i Shine, thanks for the link.

Following those instructions I don't get any error. After clicking "Check for update" I get the following 2 options:

    2021-02-10-11-08-38-iDRAC-9VW9TB3 - iDRAC9 - Maintenance.jpg

As they are both optional, I haven't installed them.

But I still get the same error when trying to update via the LCC directly on the server.
