Microsoft Office for Android

I purchased a Dell Venue 8 7000 series when Microsoft sent me an email about Office for Android. While I waited for delivery, I downloaded Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote to my Samsung Galaxy note 8.  They all worked great. It made me even more excited to receive the Venue from Dell.

Oops, this morning I set time aside to load Office for Android onto the Venue.   I was greeted by, "! Your device isn't compatible with this version".  All in all I like the Venue.  However, incompatibility with Office for Android is a deal breaker.

Does anyone know if and when this will be addressed?

Thank you,

    DellUser.101,

Office for Android is created by Microsoft. At the Microsoft Store, it states that

    Office 365 Home

    (5 PCs or Macs
    5 tablets including
    iPad,
    Android, or
    Windows
    5 phones )

    Office 365 Personal

    (1 PC or Mac
    1 tablet including iPad,
    Android, or
    Windows
    1 phone )

Office 365 plans (Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal) are compatible only with Windows 7 or later, and Mac OS X 10.6 or later. Office Home & Student 2013, Office Home & Business 2013, and Office Professional 2013 are compatible only with Windows 7 or later. You can install on Windows tablets running Windows 8 or higher, Android tablets running KitKat 4.4, and on iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher.

Don't forget the Android tablet must be running an ARM CPU not Intel.

    Thank you for the Tutorial.

However, in that the Venue runs on KitKat 4.4 and I own and use office on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8  and Galaxy Note 4...I still do not understand why a Microsoft Partner namely Dell would not want their new "Best of Show" product to be compatible with Office for Android.

Your response does not address my question.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the response.

"Office for Android also excludes support for all of the ARM tablets that haven't been (or can't be) upgraded to KitKat."

I can assure you that the Venue 8 7000 series ships with KitKat "Android 4.4.4"

I still wonder how and if Office for Android will be compatible with the Venue 8 7000.

Is there someone from Dell who can answer this question.  I have just a few days left to return this tablet and the clock is ticking.

We are working with Microsoft to resolve this.  Appears to be an issue with x86 support.  Plan is to get this working but it will take time to resolve.

DELL CAN NO LONGER BLAME MICROSOFT.

"Microsoft truly has been on a tear bringing their apps and services to tablet users, and not just users of their own Windows operating system. In this latest release, a new Preview of their Office apps is available for any tablet 10.1-inches and smaller running x86 architecture."

UNLESS YOU HAVE A DELL VENUE 8 7000 SERIES. THEN, STILL NO SUPPORT FOR OFFICE.
