Which Unity system do you have as you didn’t state it in your original post? The drive 1XJ233-031 should be seen by your unity system, but to be sure we would need to know the model of your unity system.

I am not able to see the drive in the support matrix based off the part#. If you have the Model# of the drive then you can check the matrix to see which system it may go with. You can’t mix Unity and UnityXT drives.

Looking at your photos the carrier is for a unity XT 480, 680, 880 systems. The Carrier will not work in a Unity 600 system. As long as the drive has not been swapped out of the carrier then the drive should work in a unity xt 480,680, or 880 system. If you swap the drive out of the carrier and put in a different drive, then the drive will not be seen by your Unity xt 480 system.

Looking at the disk the Part# is not found in either support matrix. Since the part# is not found on either unity support matrix, then the drives are not certified as replacement drives. In most cases when you try to use a drive that is not DellEMC certified in a unity system the drive is not spun up and there is a error message stating that a non certified drive has been inserted into a slot.

While the part number printed on the front of the bracket, 005053362, is included in your provided list, the part number on the disk itself — which belongs to the manufacturer Seagate — is 1xj233-031, and on another part of the label on the disk, the part number 118000714 04 is also mentioned.
Given these details, I would like to know whether this disk is recommended or approved for connection to Unity 600 and Unity 480?

Are there any performance or compatibility differences between these seagate disks and the Dell EMC-branded disks?
