Chrome extensions spying...
A newly discovered spyware effort attacked users through 32 million downloads of extensions to Google’s Chrome web browser.
Most of the free extensions purported to warn users about questionable websites or convert files from one format to another. Instead, they siphon off browsing history and data that provided credentials for access to internal business tools.
Google said it removed more than 70 of the malicious add-ons from its official Chrome Web Store after being alerted by researchers last month.

A reminder that Chrome extensions may be added to EDGE Chromium.
Indeed, I am using MalwareBytes Browser Guard (from Chrome WebStore) in EDGE. I'm not implying anything bad about this particular extension, just acknowledging where it comes from.

You just beat me on reporting this story.
It reinforces my biases against all Google software, which I banned from my PCs more than a dozen years ago. (I still use their search engine and Maps, only because they install no software).
