I appreciate your response on the forum here. I too was having a problem with the Spyaxe and I used your solution (link) to rid myself of the virus.

One thing I did differently was to first disable the system restore function, so as to make sure I didn't get a Spyaxe duplicate down the road. After I ran the program, I ran AVG, Adware and Spybot to clean the files. I then ran the program (link) again, rebooted and reran the AVG, Adware and Spybot and got NO hits for any of the programs for adware or virus'. 

Thanks for your help and maybe this will help someone else with this annoying virus.

Not yet. I thought I would run it a couple of days and then go back into system restore and actually set a restore point and turn it on then. I just want to make sure I didn't have any inadvertent problems before I turned it back on. If it is clean, then I am not duplicating problems for the future with restore being turned on.

I also read in one of the other forum threads where having a router between the high speed cable modum and the pc gives additional firewall protection because the virus doesn't get to the pc before it is discovered. I have a wireless router I had taken off of the computer because I wasn't using it anymore and now I am in the process of reconnecting it for added protection. I wanted to reconnect the router before turning restore on also.

I also had a big trouble with the Spyaxe.

I've got rid of it following the instructions given by the McAffehelp (http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/) - Please, choose the option "Search" and type "Spyaxe" for searching.

After following the instruction, look for a dll named wbeconm.dll (search this in the Windows search) and delete the dll. This dll is responsible for the beepling baloon in the tool bar.

If you do not delete the dll, the baloon contineus beepling althoufh you don't have ane spyware in the machine.

After deleting the dll above, please delete the registres related to it. for that action, please use the regedit command (start / run/ regedit). To locate the registre, use the location tool in the regedit box (edit / locate / ... and type wbeconm / locate). Delete in the right box the registres related to wbeconm).

During the entire procedure, keep the machine disconnected from the internet and do not click on the baloon.

After, beboot the machine and the plague will be gone.
