Does an engine failure in vmax causes Data Unavailability ?

Hello everyone,

Happen to read somewhere in a blog that, an engine failure (Both directors) does not causes DU situation as each DAE has redundant connectivity, which will connect it to a director on another Engine..

Is that true ?

Yes, unless you single path'ed to a single director in an engine.

As long as you have redundancy you are good to a dir in a different engine.

At least you have muti-path connected to different director FA ports and you configured device mapping to different FA port on muti-directors. Then single engine failure won't occurs DU. On the backend. if you VMAX installed multiple engines, the Director to DAE connection has redundancy for sure. This's EMC installation standard.
