Cannot delete a folder (empty)

Hi,
I have many folders, created when I using Pinnacle Studio 8. I cannot delete them, even in safe mode. I cannot even open those folders (access dennied!). Is there a trick to delete that folder other than reformat the drive. I appreciate any inputs.

    pc8200,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

What is the folder that you are trying to delete? Have you tried deleting from within the progeram? Not sure that will help as I am not familiar with the program. Why are you trying to delete this folder?

In Studio 8, everytime you create a project, it creates a folder with the same name on the drive, i do not what is that for. I never see anything in there. Most of the time, I can delete them but for some reason, some of them I cannot do anything!

Did you try: Right click on the folder, uncheck Read Only if checked, then go back and try to delete it.

Are you on your administrator account? Have you checked the permissions on the folder to see if your user has access?

pc8200, it may have files hidden within the folder.  View hidden and system files, then check the folder again.  Or you can try a free download, "Move on Boot" link HERE

    Follow prompts and delete folder.

Edited part:  This program may only delete files, not folders.

Yes, I tried that way, it was read only mode. I deselect it then try to delete the folder. I cannot, when I check back the folder property, it switched back to read only mode.

Too bad, there is no utility to force delete folders, and my OS is XP home with SP2. I don't think that I have administraive privilege problem. The folders are empty, that is my guess because the folder size (from folder property) is zero. I cannot open those folder by double click on it.

    1. Run Chkdsk (Check Disk)
    2. Go to safe mode (with command prompt)

Type in del "C:\program files\bad folder"

(replace C:\program files\bad folder with the actual path to the undeletable folder.

    Or try HERE

    Good luck!!

Thanks msil217 for the link to MS and the instructions, I did not have chance to try it because I am reformatting that partition (quick and easy trick to wipeout somethingInsert Smilies). I am going to save your instructions for next time. I am sure that problem going to come back again
