Just got the brand new XPS 8910 with Win 10 preinstalled. I am attempting to install Java but I am not successful. I downloaded JavaSetup8u121 (sitting in my Downloads folder) but when I click on it, it asks me if I want this app do any changes .... After clicking on Yes nothing is happening.
You don't have to get rid of Microsoft Edge browser. I'd suggest you open the Edge browser, click on the three dots . . .) on the top right side of page , stroll down to 'Open With Internet Explorer', and then click on it. You should be able to download/run Java in Internet Explorer 11.
Thanks for clear instruction, however my Open with Interne Explorer line, you are pointing to, is "greyed out".
My problem is not with downloading , but with installing . Java setup.... is sitting in my Downloads folder but when I click on it .
I try again and when I was asked if I want this app..... I clicked on details and open certificate plus checked all the tab. Suddenly Java started to install itself.
What To Do When Java Won't Install Windows 10? Fix 1: Verify The Installation Error. Fix 2: Remove All Prior Installations Of Java. Fix 3: Install The Offline Installer Package. Fix 4: Perform A Clean Boot And Then Install Java. Fix 5: Try Microsoft Install And Uninstall Troubleshooter. Fix 6: Disable Firewall Temporarily.

Are you saying I need to get rid of the Edge in order to install Java.
I have another Win 10 box (WIn 10 installed by me, without DELL configuration) and I did not have any problems with Java.
