cant install scanner

I have a scanner ArtecUltima 2000/1236usb which was set up to my old computer. I have an installation disk but my new computer with xp wont recognise it. I have tried to find downloads from websites but the language confuses me and I dont know if i am doing my pc any harm to just chance it. Is there any one who can help or advise. thanks june

    Some hardware will not install on Win XP and according to a web search, your scanner is one of those. Time to buy a new scanner. You can try the manufacturer's web site to see if there are any XP drivers, but others have said that nothing works. http://www.driverzone.com/viewcomment.php?masterid=81&company=Artec&catid=11&cat=scanners

    thanks mary, as I suspected, but what a waste of perfectly good scanner!
