Chkdsk

My xps 1530 has some registry errors and keeps wanting me to run the chkdsk utility. I could not find it until coming here earlier and did what some folks suggested, which was to go to C drive, properties, tools and run the utility. It won't do it but will scgedule it to run after the next reboot. I have tried it a few times, and nothing happens, it starts normally. Any ideas? thanks

If they are registry problems - rather than hard drive problems, use CCleaner to find the invalid registry entries, and get rid of them for you :emotion-55:

It also checks your system for junk files etc, and allows to get rid of those as well.

It's an invaluable program (IMO), which I personally run at least once a week on my own systems (PC's and laptop) :emotion-5:

    renefig,

In addition to what TheRealFireblade stated, the commands to run chkdsk are as follows.

Press the Windows Key and the R key at the same time. Type

    CMD

hit enter, this will bring up the dos screen. Now type

chkdsk /r     (space between the k and /) Hit enter. Answer with Y and then restart your computer. It takes a while, so do this when you are not going to use the computer for a while.

    renefig,

The basic difference I see is you have all the extra security.
